Choosing the Right Candidate

The first question that we should ask a candidate is, “Who are you?” In this question, we try to know the background of the candidate in terms of his educational attainment, the environment where he or she grew up and the family for which he or she was raised, and his character as a person. Is he or she a God-fearing fellow? The popularity and the good-looking aura of a candidate are not a guarantee of his leadership.

Guarding Campus Security

Often seen standing by the entrance of the university, these poker-faced individuals help maintain student policy and order in the campus. Not many people understand the realities of their profession, and how much effort they exert.

In a fraction of a second, they can spot students who do not comply with the prescribed uniform and promptly turn them away. Dura lex sed lex. The law may be hard but it is the law. They are the security guards of the campus – keepers of the gates, guardians of the student handbook, and holders of the keys.
Among them are two exceptional people: a stern lady with big dreams; and a man fermented by wisdom and experience.

Ang makasama ka. Hehe. Biro lang ‘te, ang maging isang gentleman na pulis,” says the man with a noble dream when asked what he sought for in life.  “Pinapatawa lang kita, haha, para iwas stress,” he added in a light spirited manner, exhibiting sense of humor.

The potentials of this athlete have been visible at a young age: he started playing taekwondo when he was 12.  His talent in the sport landed him in competitions in which he consecutively represented his school in the division, regional, and national levels.  Prior to UCV, he has represented his school in the Palarong Pambansa duing his elementary and high school days.  “Malakas po kasi yata ang tsamba ko ‘te,” he laughingly said.

A Primer on Flood

From Bulatlat.com
Undeniably, floods severely alter the lives of people in the community.  One only needs to look back in recent history to remember the thousands who have perished during the onslaught of typhoon Haiyan – the most powerful storm in the world at that time.

Recently, Tuguegarao experienced massive flooding which displaced communities and sunk barangays.  Even UCV became a great lake at that time. Many claimed that Lando was the worst flooding that hit the city.
