NORLU in OSSEI 2016: Tattao's Photos in Top 15

Filipino Editor Paula Tattao wraps up her article during the
OSSEI National Conference on Campus Journalism and 9th
Writing Competition held at Baguio City last Jan. 28-30, 2016
"I was challenged to strive harder" says Paula Tattao, Filipino Editor of The Norluzonian as she earned a spot in the top-fifteen during the Organization of Student Services Educators Inc. (OSSEI) National Conference on Campus Journalism and 9th Writing Competition photojournalism contest held at Baguio Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City last January 28-30, 2016.

In what seemed like an epiphany to the rookie Filipino Editor who just wanted to test her photojournalism skills, Tattao bested other competitors from various Colleges and Universities in the Philippines when her photos were flashed on screen in the conference hall during a presentation of finalists.

Tattao, a second-year BS Marine Transportation student has been a writer since high school.  Last semester, she competed for a senior position in the Norlu Editorial Board where she qualified as the Filipino Editor. She has been with Norlu for less than a year.

Realizing her potentials in photojournalism at the tertiary level, Tattao says that she aims to "...strive harder to become a better photojournalist" aside from being a writer.

Meanwhile, Tattao was accompanied by four senior Norlu Editors including Quer Brinn Urbina (EIC), Girlie Mariano (AE), Romulo Vanguardia Jr. (ME), and Kaye-Anne Gannaban (Lit.Ed.) as well as their adviser Mr. Mark Vincent Gocal.

The other Senior Editors attended seminar workshops on Editorial Writing, News and Sports Reporting, Feature Writing, Editorial Cartooning, and Page Design & Layout where trends and problem areas in campus journalism were discussed.

The OSSEI National Conference on Campus Journalism is an annual event that aims to develop and strengthen skills in the field of campus journalism and to create awareness among participants on the challenges of campus writing.
